~ hope ~

“The very least we can do in our life is to figure out what we hope for. And the most we can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.”

This is a tough call. Working out what we hope for. Hope can be beyond our wildest dreams, hope can be our inspiration and determination to keep on going against the odds. Hope is given to high notions and ideals, simple pleasure and great toil. We hope so, we wish it so, we are forever in hopes shadow if indeed we fail to recognise the difference. What difference?

Hope is a kind of magic we invent to see us through many endeavours we encounter in life. Sometimes we hope for simply a day without sadness, a day when we don’t fall out with anyone, a day when we are able to cope with the normal day to day. We sometimes mix up hope with wishes for the near impossible, and somewhere somebody accomplishes the near impossible. We hope we can be like them.

Our folk heroes inspire hope, inspire respect and inspire us to push out our boundaries. We use hope for elements we feel are often beyond our control and beyond our capacity. Hope springs eternal to the human mind as we are driven by primal needs, and the modern world laces our hopes with unnecessary wants. Hope, needs and wants, that is part of the process of acceptance. Acceptance is peace in our lot, and hope is sometimes given a bad rap. Pandora and her box, all that was left was hope…

Is hope the last resort of the optimist who strives to achieve and is frustrated that the ultimate goal is forever just out of reach? Or is hope satisfied in the pessimist with realistic outcomes, and achieves them and finds peace in that acceptance?

Are we as a race hoping for the best? And the best is achieved, we are fulfilled in some future or is hope something we can nail our flag to, something we can use as a tool to motivate us daily. I guess and hope we can use it all ways, for without hope, where would mankind end up? Hope in the minds eye, again the thinker who feels for hope, and feels for the success in endeavour. Hope is certainly integral, when outcomes are never certain.

We hope for a good life, a great life and we unswervingly accept our right to hope. Yet across the world every day hopes are dashed as reality crashes into our reality and dreams are lost to time. We hope it won’t be so, but for every story of endeavour we hear, we know much hope is lost. Winners and hope become idols of endeavour and success. We revere with great respect those who achieve and make their dreams of success come true. We are driven by it and live by it. We most certainly live in hope for our greatest need, to be loved.

Love, that odd strange thing we have that pumps our hearts and keeps mankind busy making more and more of everything especially ourselves. Our Primal drives of love and creation, is it any wonder that we are driven to explore love and life so keenly? It is no surprise, yet we don’t like to investigate ourselves too deeply only to find we are not as advanced as we would wish. Our nature still feels private and very intimate, and exposures of those hopes are forever kept deep inside in case our hopes are dashed and we are discovered unworthy of love and inclusion with those we choose to be partners and life givers. We are deeply complex around our hopes and understanding of ourselves.

Where we are exposed and most vulnerable in our behaviour,we are more keenly aware to expose our deepest yearnings is shrouded in all manner of codes, where hopes and actions are censored from public life, well in many societies it is so, our sexual conduct a classic. Our religious observance another. Areas which are shrouded in mystical qualities and rituals which bind us to close and very intimate sharing. In case we are found out of course. We might hope our taboos were less pronounced, and our shy and circumspect natures would be less so, that future generations hopefully find their realities with greater confidence.

We know we are full of hope, which can turn to dust, we have primal desires and we hope others will share. Hope is part of our secret lives, where we get what we want, and in the process fulfil base needs. We worry our needs are out of the ordinary, and as we have patterns we most all conform and live by, we hope we are inside and included, not outside and excluded. We hope for normality, and hope we are special. We hope we are loved as we would love others.

Driven by our nature, whatever that may be, we are fed and nurtured and we develop our hope from what we see, and expect to meet our needs along the way. And as I said in this complicated world, sometimes our wants are far beyond our needs, yet we have hope it may be a dream to come true. After all we litter our folk lore with examples where we can hope to be as great and good, as lucky, as determined and as hard working to achieve far beyond in a land of dreams.

So when these days I find myself hoping, I guess through experience I am able to categorise and make good my hopes wishes and dreams. I have hope for mankind, I have dreams for mankind and I can dream of mankind, sometime and somewhere more harmonious and clued into life as can be.

At the same time where I am in my life, I can have for my world, my close world where hopes are founded on gentle and more simple propositions. Where we hope for health and achievement from experiences I know. For love in my fellows and family and friends. For care and for sharing and growing inclusion and making the best and covering our needs. And I hope we set our sights on fulfilling our needs, then using some wishes to help us proceed, and make good for those we care for and make life worth living. And dreams would include moving along in harmonious relationships and things of this sort. There is hope in these notions and success is not assured, yet we move along with care and get to where we can. We don’t fall down when we work out our plans, we keep it quite simple and know where we stand.

Hope is certainly an ingredient we use with aplomb when we recognise its worth and not to be disappointed when we stretch things too far. All part of endeavour in our own small world, part of a universe where hope has no hold. Hope is beyond reason as we all really know.

And across this uncertainty we bridge many gaps with devices to help us along our way. Some use predictions and many have faith. Lost out of reason where light and dark forces are felt to play. We have had Gods a plenty now narrowed down to one, and metaphysics too, where hard science meets faith and makes our hope grow.

Our desire for some certainty that we can predict moves our conscious thoughts to wishes we would come true. Using our hard science and knowledge to prove ourselves right that there is destiny and fortitude in believing when reason suggests not. Hope is eternal that we can control more of our world than our choices and make our world so!

Seers and magicians, spiritual matters, we consult with our ancients as if they have lore, we can embellish and bring to this modern chaotic world, some would shun it and others will use it to get their rewards. And as we hear of those who are lucky our hope is activated and works for our goals.

Our feelings drive us and we never dig down too deep, to find really what’s going on and makes us all tick. When we dig deep inside we often prefer, to be ignorant of facts or our hopes may be gone. We deny our humanity most often it seems, and replace those harsh moments with hope, wishes and dreams.

Best we consider with greater philosophy of mind where hope can spring eternal and help all mankind. I know its not easy to let go our myths, especially our own when we need our dreams. I believe we have hope and fair it can be to use our tool well for achieving our needs.

We need to be sure what wish might occur, and how we will cope when we hope lets us down. Then comes our nature to pick us all up as we try and try again, our primal drives kick in, when there was no reason to hope, except for our instinct.

So as emerge as a race moving on, caught in instincts and nature as nurture moves us along. We find so many parallels pull us all ways, there will always be hope and wishes and dreams to keep us all safe…
